According to the results of 2016, 93.5 thousand of apartments (more than 4 million square meters) were sold in St Petersburg and its outskirts. Such data was presented in the preliminary study of the St Petersburg Real Estate Consulting Centre. This data exceeds heavily the figures of 2015 which are 86.8 thousand apartments or 3.78 million square meters. And for the first time in recent years, the number of property sales is higher than the number of constructed housing.
Most likely, this positive outcome has been caused by several reasons. One of them is the state support of mortgage programs: the share of mortgage deals is approximately 60%. Another point is that the real estate market offers interesting housing projects and the prices remain almost the same.
