January 18, 1943 was a turning point in the history of Leningrad

January 18, 1943 was a turning point in the history of Leningrad, past name of Saint – Petersburg. On that day, the siege was breached. This historical moment is of great importance for Leningrad citizens and is still celebrated as a day of remembrance and mourning.

Breaching the siege has become a symbol of hope and survival. The news of the siege breaching caused an enthusiastic reaction among the residents of the city. Finally, there is hope that the suffering of the citizens of Leningrad will soon end.

The blockade was lifted only on January 27, 1944. Despite this, January 18 remains a symbolic day that recalls the steadfastness and courage of the inhabitants of Leningrad during the hardest times of the Great Patriotic War. Today we want to share with you an amazing project. Sergey Larenkov, an ordinary resident of our city, created a unique photo design project called "Invisible Leningrad". This project is a combination of photographs of besieged Leningrad and a modern city.
